Utah Man Poses as Federal Agent to Get Free Comic Con Tickets

Jonathon Wall of Layton, Utah has plead not guilty to charges suggesting that he posed as a federal agent to attempt getting VIP tickets to the Comic Con in Salt Lake City. Prosecutors said the he claimed to need the passes to catch a fugitive at the event. He was caught after a security guard got suspicious of his claim of being an Air Force Office of Special Investigations agent. Wall is being charged with impersonating a federal officer and making false statements.

Comments from Allen:

I have a lot of friends who go to the Comic Con get-togethers in Salt Lake City.  Many of them dress as super heroes or comic book characters.  I shall warn them not to dress as a federal agent next time they attend, even if that character does appear in a comic book or movie.

Unfortunately for this comical con, he was not able to leap a tall building before a retired cop stopped him and called the U.S. Air Force, which swooped in, noting this man's behavior was inconsistent with Truth, Justice, and the American Way.

I suspect Mr. Wall will land in a federal prison, as the federal justice system is brutal, and defendants are treated harshly in that system: up to 7 years and $250,000 in fines per charge for Mr. Wall.  The defense attorney will need to do a bit of creative lawyering to keep the record clean for Mr. Wall.

So..... Will our defendant be going home for the holidays, or will he be doing the Seven Year Stretch? Will this one Comic Con VIP ticket cost him $50 or $500,000?
