DEA Agent's Daughter Deals Drugs?

19 year old Sarah Furay was arrested for allegedly selling drugs. Furay is the daughter of a Drug Enforcement Agency Agent. Her father is a supervisory special agent and has worked there for over 20 years. The police arrested her after getting a warrant to search her apartment. They found cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, methamphetamine, and a drug similar to LSD. Furay is going to be charged with four felony charges including manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, and  drug possession.

Comments from Allen:

Oops.  Somebody who slept through all of those DARE presentations in middle school is not going to be driving daddy's car for a while...possibly not for the next 215 years.  Now she is a student at Texas A&M (Agriculture and Military), finding herself in a profession in which agriculture and guns often go hand-in-hand.

While she may miss some classes as she moves out of her dorm, the good news for Sarah Furay is that she a finalist for "Most Photogenic Drug Dealer of 2015."

Any manufacturing charge in connection with controlled substances is always a felony.  When manufacturing or transporting cocaine or methamphetamine is the crime, there is always the possibility that the U.S. Attorney's Office will take jurisdiction away from the state prosecutor and prosecute the crime or crimes in U.S. District Court, where the ability to negotiate a plea is severely restricted.

While she faces a possibility of 215 years in prison, her age, her father's profession, her lack of a criminal history, and that this is a state and not federal prosecution bode well for her.  I would not be surprised if this "adorable drug kingpin" spends less than a year in prison before resuming her studies.  Expect reduction of her charges to felonies without mandatory prison time in exchange for her "guilty" plea, and a lot of suspended prison time.
