Mother Gives Toddler Pot Infused Food

25 year old Alaina Limpert from Arizona told the police that she didn't intend for her two year old daughter to eat marijuana infused mac and cheese. She said that she made the pasta dish with cannabutter (which is butter that is laced with THC, the active ingredient in weed that gives someone the high feeling) as a treat for her husband. She wasn't aware that her daughter ate some until the toddler started showing symptoms of being high.

Then neither parent took the child to emergency care. Instead the police allege that Limpert laughed when her daughter was high and put the toddler in a cold pool to "shock" her.

Someone who witnessed the incident called the Arizona Department of Child Safety. Police arrested Limpert at her home for child abuse, cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana, among other charges.

At the Limpert's home, the police found a bag of psychedelic mushrooms, a bag of marijuana, and three large tubs of THC butter in her fridge. They also had two tents in the garage for growing 20 marijuana plants. The house was also decorated with an array of bongs, hash oils, and pipes. On Limpert's Facebook page, she mentions that she does online marketing for the cannabis community.

Officials have taken all three of Limpert's children. The toddler's blood tests positive for THC at the hospital.

Dr. Robert Glatter, who is an emergency room physician at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital, said that marijuana edibles can be extremely dangerous for children because they can have severe reactions including nausea, vomiting, and anxiety-like reactions.

Comments from Allen:

In Arizona, this conduct is unquestionably felonious.  The mom can be charged with felony injury to a child, trafficking in marijuana, cultivation of marijuana and possession of a sufficient quantity of marijuana to constitute a felony.  I would expect the mom to get a minimum of one year in prison fixed time, with a total sentence of up to 10 years in the pen.

That's the bad news.  The good news is: they eat a lot of mac and cheese in prison!
